The Camp Mère Clarac was founded in 1857 by Mother Anselme Marie. She was the superior general of the Communauté des Sœurs de Charité de Ste-Marie. She was the driving force behind this project. Haut de page Our history Our history The Camp Mère Clarac was founded in 1857 by Mother Anselme Marie. She was the superior general of the Communauté des Sœurs de Charité de Ste-Marie. She was the driving force behind this project. Still under the direction of the community, the camp benefits from the presence of the nuns. Since 2004, Sister Marie-Hélène has ensured the general management of the camp. Mother Anselme had been thinking for some time about funding a summer camp for children who have to spend summer in the city. The opportunity came in 1956 upon the acquisition of a beautiful wooded lot on the bank of Ouareau River. In the summer of 1957, the camp welcomed its first campers! This 115-acre lot was developed over the years. Initially, the camp welcomed 25 to 75 campers per week. It offered activities such as swimming, canoeing, tennis, pony or cart rides, excursions, and campfires, creating a sense of fraternity and friendship. As early as 1964, the camp was welcoming 180 campers per week. Yet to ensure that all campers enjoyed their stay to the fullest, it was necessary to restructure the program. Therefore, activities under the supervision of qualified specialists were added to the program, namely horse riding, archery, athletics, sailing, climbing and karate. Over the years, the development of the camp continued with the construction of various facilities, including the chapel, the cafeteria, dormitory-cabins, an infirmary, and a fully equipped theatre hall. In addition to the above, several sports facilities were added, namely an archery field, a hebertism trail, a minifarm, two horse riding rings and one stable where fifteen horses are kept. In 1994, the construction of the welcoming pavillion named Pavillion d’accueil Mère-Anselme was completed.

HAUT DE PAGE Séjours Les séjours au camp varient selon votre choix. Ils peuvent être d’une durée de 1 à 6 semaines. Une semaine au camp correspond à 5 nuitées et 6 jours. Pour une participation à plus d’une semaine de manière consécutive , votre enfant demeure au camp entre ses semaines. Un séjour de deux (2) semaines consécutives correspond à 12 nuitées, 3 semaines à 19 nuitées, 4 semaines 26 nuitées, etc. Afin d’optimiser notre service à la clientèle, il est important de respecter l’heure d’arrivée et de départ. Chaque excursion est adaptée au groupe d’âge. C’est le temps idéal afin de se retrouver en équipe et de vivre un moment exceptionnel. À cette occasion, nous dînons aussi à l’extérieur (BBQ, dîner cuisiné sur le feu, lunch, etc.) Ancre 1 Repas Des menus approuvés par une nutritionniste diplômée. Premier repas de la journée, le déjeuner est équilibré et nutritif. Chaque matin, nous offrons des céréales, des rôties et leurs garnitures, une variété de fruits et de jus, du fromage et du lait. On sert aussi en alternance des oeufs, des crêpes, du pain doré, etc. Au dîner et au souper, une bonne soupe, des légumes et des salades diverses accompagnent le poulet, la viande rouge, le poisson ou les pâtes. Pour terminer, les jeunes peuvent se régaler de nos succulents desserts ! Tous les jours, une collation est servie en après-midi. Groupes de campeurs Durant l’été, le camp accueille des filles de 5 à 16 ans et des garçons de 5 à 12 ans. Le participant doit avoir l'âge requis au 1ier juillet 2023 pour l'inscription dans un des groupes. Chacun a son dortoir assigné. Tous les dortoirs sont dotés de lits superposés, de rangements, de blocs sanitaires complets, d’une grande salle polyvalente et plus encore. Des installations hors-pair! 3 grands chalets de type dortoir, Chalet des Anges, Saint-Joseph et Sainte Odile Le pavillon Mère Anselme avec une aile complètement aménagée en dortoir La « petite ourse » avec des chambres de 4 personnes Service de buanderie Un service de buanderie est offert aux campeurs qui séjournent 12 nuitées et plus.
